How to View Outstanding Financial Aid Requirements/Financial Aid Messages

To access your account, log in to FlashLine

  1. Choose the Student tab on the left column
  2. Under Finances tab click on Financial Aid
  3. Click on Financial Aid Status, select the current aid year from the drop down and Submit
  4. If you have any unsatisfied student requirements, click on You have unsatisfied student requirements to the right of the requirement, click on the open box for instructions
  5. If you have any active messages, click on You have active messages to view all active messages

At times, students may need to provide extra information or documentation to finalize their financial aid eligibility, known as outstanding requirements. We communicate any outstanding requirements to students via their financial aid active messages in FlashLine. It's crucial for students to regularly check their active messages to ensure all necessary steps are completed for receiving their financial aid. This video will demonstrate how to view outstanding requirements and active messages in FlashLine.

View My Financial Aid Awards

Students can access their financial aid awards by logging into their FlashLine account. These instructions and video tutorial will guide you through the steps to view your financial aid awards.

  1. Log in to FlashLine.
  2. After logging in, navigate to the Student tab > Finances > Scholarships & Financial Aid.
  3. Under Scholarships & Financial Aid, select Financial Aid Status.
  4. Select the current aid year from the dropdown and hit submit.
    1. You will then have the option to view your awarded financial aid by clicking the hyperlink.
  5. Click on the Award Overview tab to view your financial aid.
    1. If you have questions about the awards on your award offer, click on the type of aid listed under the Fund section. A pop-up box will appear explaining the award in more detail.
  6. Click on the Terms and Conditions tab to review and accept terms and conditions if you have not already done so.
  7. Next, click on the Accept Award Offer tab to submit a decision. Aid not accepted will not be credited to your Bursar account.

How do I Accept my Awards

To access your account, log on to FlashLine at https://login.kent.edu

  1. Choose the Student tab on the left column
  2. Under Finances tab click on Financial Aid
  3. Select "Financial Aid Awards"
  4. Choose the Award Year from the drop-down box and click Submit
  5. Click on Terms & Conditions tab to accept. You must do this before Accept Award Offer tab
  6. Click on the Accept Award Offer tab
  7. Follow the instructions on the page to accept, reduce, or decline offered financial aid

To ensure their scholarships and federal loans are applied to their billing account, students need to either accept or decline them. By viewing the video below, you'll grasp the necessary steps to manage your financial aid awards effectively.

I Accepted the Direct Loan. Now What?

If you accept a Direct Loan, you are required to complete an Annual Student Loan Acknowledgement, Entrance Loan Counseling and a Master Promissory Note in order for Direct Loans to pay to your Student Account.

  1. To complete the Entrance Loan Counseling, visit StudentAid.gov
    1. Log in with your FSA ID; see instructions on creating the FSA ID
  2. Click on drop down arrow at the top right “Complete Aid Process
    1. Select Option "Complete Entrance Counseling"
    2. Click on Blue Start Button to the left and finish all 5 steps until you complete the counseling successfully.

      To verify a completed Entrance Counseling:

      1. Log onto StudentAid.gov with your FSA ID
      2. Click on the arrow to the right of your name in top right hand corner
      3. Select Documents
      4. Click on the Drop Down Arrow next to Document Type
      5. Select Loan Counseling

If you do not see an Entrance Counseling listed, or you completed the incorrect counseling type, complete the Entrance Counseling steps above.

  1. To complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) electronic signature visit StudentAid.gov:
    1. Log in with your FSA ID; see instructions on creating the FSA ID
    2. Click on drop down arrow at the top right “Complete Aid Process
    3. Select option Complete Master Promissory Note
    4. Select Blue Start Button for "Complete Subsidized/Unsubsidized MPN"; complete all four steps until you have submitted the promissory note successfully.

      To verify a completed MPN:

      1. Log onto StudentAid.gov with your FSA ID
      2. Click on the arrow to the right of your name in top right hand corner
      3. Select Documents
      4. Click on the Drop Down Arrow next to Document Type
      5. Select Master Promissory Note (MPN)

If you do not see a Promissory Note listed or you completed the incorrect MPN type, complete the Master Promissory Note steps above.

Once you complete the Entrance Counseling & Master Promissory Note (MPN), the Student Financial Aid Office will receive the confirmation from the Department Of Education.

Once you've accepted your federal student loans at Kent State University, there are additional requirements you must fulfill on studentaid.gov before your accepted loans can be applied to your account balance. This video will walk you through the necessary steps to complete the Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note (MPN).

To retain eligibility for federal financial aid at Kent State University, students must uphold Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards leading to degree attainment. Exit Counseling

All students who have borrowed federal student loans must complete Exit Counseling on studentaid.gov within six months after graduating from the university or dropping below half-time enrollment. Exit Counseling acquaints you with your loan lender, provides an overview of your borrowing, and helps you select the appropriate repayment plan. This video will inform students about the Exit Counseling process and the necessary steps to complete it.
