Penneys have confirmed they will be opening a new store just off the Main Street in Bray ending months of speculation. The chain confirmed on Friday that they have now officially taken over the premises in the new Bray Central shopping centre. The high street chain say they expect to be open for business in the summer. In a statement released on Friday the company said: ‘The unit has officially been handed over to Penneys and works will now commence on the store fit-out, with doors expected to open to customers this summer. The official opening date will be announced in the coming months.’ The long anticipated Bray store will be Penneys’ first in Co. Wicklow, but its 38th store in Ireland. It will span 19,600 sq. ft of retail space and will say the company provide ‘a boost to the local economy’. When open the new store will sell clothes across womenswear, menswear, kidswear, beauty, and homeware. The company say anyone looking to work in the store can browse through the career opportunities on the Primark website. Parent company Primark say the new store is part of a commitment to invest over €250 million in Ireland over a ten-year period, which includes the development, relocation and/or refurbishment of its stores across the country. The investment also includes a €75 million state-of-the-art warehousing and distribution facility in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, which is currently under construction. Primark say they have ambitions to reach 530 stores internationally by the end of 2026. Today's top videos
