Earlier this month, the rumor mill reached such a fever pitch that the CEO of Trader Joe's himself addressed it. When asked on an episode of the company's podcast whether the company train its employees to flirt, CEO Bryan Palbaum replied, “Definitively, no.”

Trader Joe's doesn't train its employees to be nice, because they don't really have to; the people they hire are naturally like that already. Trader Joe's prides itself in being a friendly neighborhood store, so it simply hires people who can uphold that reputation.

Yes, they do. As of about a year ago, Trader Joe's pays an extra $10 per hour for crew members working Sundays and certain holidays celebrated on Mondays. I know this doesn't sound right. We thought so too till we started getting paid…and then making sure we were working every Sunday and holiday we could.
