Does Warren Buffett own Bitcoin?
Warren Buffett Doesn't Own Bitcoin, but His Company Is Betting $1 Billion on This Crypto Stock. Warren Buffett has made his dislike for Bitcoin known over the years.
Perhaps the most famous value investor of all time, Warren Buffett is strongly against Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, saying, "You can't value Bitcoin because it's not a value-producing asset." Buffett and his holding company Berkshire Hathaway Inc. have been well-known for their investments in stable and ...
Winklevoss Twins – $1.4 Billion Net Worth Each
This early investment helped them amass a substantial amount of wealth and become Bitcoin millionaires as the value of the coin skyrocketed.
While a single Bitcoin costs tens of thousands of dollars, the cryptocurrency can be bought and sold as fractional shares, so your initial investment could be as low as, say, $25.
If you choose to invest, it's important to maintain a diversified portfolio that includes several different types of investments to reduce your overall risk exposure. As a rule of thumb, don't invest more than 10% of your portfolio in risky assets like Bitcoin. NerdWallet's ratings are determined by our editorial team.
Bitcoin is not controlled by any single group or person. Instead, it is governed by multiple stakeholders — including developers, miners, and users. Developers write the code that makes Bitcoin run; miners validate transactions; and users put the software to work by trading, transacting, holding, and more.
That investment would be worth $6,859,178,076.22 today based on the same price of $28,122.63 at the time of writing. While investing in Bitcoin today may never be worth billions of dollars in the future, the hypothetical investment illustrates the large increase in value of the leading cryptocurrency over time.
However, some estimates can be made based on blockchain data and surveys of Bitcoin holders. According to data from Bitinfocharts, as of March 2023, there are approximately 827,000 addresses that hold 1 bitcoin or more, representing around 4.5% of all addresses on the Bitcoin network.
While this is a lower-bound scenario, we can use it as a baseline to show what it takes for investors to become Bitcoin millionaires. Assuming an annualized return of 30%, one would need to invest roughly $85,500 annually for five years to hit millionaire status. Over 10 years, this number falls to around $18,250.
Who is the biggest buyer of Bitcoin?
So, who are the top holders of BTC? According to the Bitcoin research and analysis firm River Intelligence, Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous creator behind Bitcoin, is listed as the top BTC holder as of 2024. The company notes that Satoshi Nakamoto holds about 1.1m BTC tokens in about 22,000 different addresses.
For the third year running, Changpeng Zhao, founder and former CEO of crypto exchange Binance, is crypto's wealthiest person. Despite pleading guilty to U.S. money laundering charges in November, CZ, as he's known, is now worth an estimated $33 billion, up from $10.5 billion last year.
Satoshi Nakamoto (~1.1 million BTC)
It's unsurprising that the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, remains the largest holder of the cryptocurrency. It's estimated they hold an astonishing fortune of around 1.1 million BTC.
Assuming a constant monthly investment of $500 for 10 years and a bitcoin price of $1 million per coin at the end, you would earn a profit of approximately $4.8 million. If I put $500 in Bitcoin at $25,000, how much would that be if it goes up to $60k? Take 500 and divide it by $25,000. That's .
To be exact, a Bitcoin investor who purchased $10,000 worth of Bitcoin in 2010 would have earned $201.56 mln. In contrast, an investor who purchased $10,000 worth of gold in 2010 would have experienced a negative return of $9,981.

If you're looking for an asset that you can quickly move in and out of without losing value in a short time (like Bitcoin can), gold might be a better option. However, stablecoins like Tether (USDT) maintain their value over short periods because fiat currency and other cash-like instruments are held in reserve.
Investing in Bitcoin cryptocurrency has its pros and cons. While its transactions are relatively secure, it's also prone to volatility, with large dips and spikes in price. Bitcoin (BTC) Price Prediction 2030
According to your price prediction input for Bitcoin, the value of BTC may increase by +5% and reach $ 87,239.62 by 2030.
Bitcoin's price is primarily affected by its supply, the market's demand, availability, competing cryptocurrencies, and investor sentiment. Bitcoin supply is limited—there is a finite number of bitcoins, and the final coins are projected to be mined in 2140.
Can you see who owns Bitcoin?
Pseudonymous Nature of Bitcoin:Bitcoin transactions are recorded on a public ledger called the blockchain. Addresses are alphanumeric strings associated with a wallet, but they do not directly reveal the identity of the wallet owner.
Nakamoto owns between 750,000 and 1,100,000 Bitcoin. In November 2021, when Bitcoin reached a value of over $68,000, his net worth would have been up to $73 billion, making him the 15th-richest person in the world at the time.
If you had invested $1,000 into bitcoin five years ago, the investment would have grown by 1,352% and be worth around $14,524 as of Feb. 14. If you had bought $1,000 worth of bitcoin 10 years ago, it would have grown by 7,644% and be worth around $77,443 as of Feb.
Bitcoin prices have fallen over 30% from their high twice, and over 60% once, over the past five years alone! But you'd be pretty happy if you'd bought five years ago and held on for dear life. A $1,000 investment in Bitcoin five years ago will have grown to over $13,000 today.
